Turn what you watch into what you practice.
Whether it’s a film you just imported or a frame you saved months ago, everything stays in one library. Find it by tag, source, or date. Explore shots, audio, dialogue, and music on one timeline—with every saved reference linked to where it came from.
Import
Bring in a public video you have permission to download. ShotPal Pro saves the video alongside its title, creator, platform, and cover image. Once it’s downloaded, start your breakdown without returning to the browser.
Analyze
Explore the shots, frames, sound, dialogue, and music that make a film work. Save a frame, mark an audio selection, and add your tags in place—without switching tools or losing context.
Every shot, laid out. Detect cuts locally and explore the film as a shot grid. The active shot stays highlighted as it plays. Click any shot to jump straight to it.
Keep the frame that matters. Save the exact frame you’re watching, together with its source and timecode. Add tags and find it again in your image library.
Mark it. Hear it. Keep it. Set In and Out points directly on the audio track. Export the selection with its waveform, duration, and source—without opening another audio app.
Dialogue, in context. Transcribe locally and follow each line during playback. Export an editable shot breakdown with shot numbers, timecodes, durations, dialogue, and music references.
Export
Your saved frames, audio, music, and subtitles are gathered in the export tray. Drag supported files straight into your editing software, including DaVinci Resolve. Original filenames and timecodes help you keep track of their source.
Library

Every frame has a source. Saved frames keep their original film, timecode, and tags. Filter by tag or browse related references together—you can always trace a frame back to its source.
Local-first
Your videos, saved frames, audio, transcripts, and tags stay on your Mac. Shot detection and transcription run locally. Features such as link downloads and music identification use an internet connection when needed.
Separate collections. Clear organization. Video, image, and music libraries each have their own tags, keeping your filters focused. The same tag can have different counts in each collection.
A downloader that checks itself. Check the bundled downloader’s installation and version from Settings, and repair it when needed.

Your library is a folder you choose. Media and results live in organized folders, making the library easy to browse and back up. Copy the whole folder to move your media and metadata together.
Built with proven open-source tools. yt-dlp handles downloads, TransNetV2 detects shots, and whisper.cpp transcribes dialogue locally. Once the models are downloaded, analysis runs on your Mac.
Your references, not a black box. Library metadata is stored alongside your media in JSON files and a SQLite database. Back it up with the library or inspect it with your own tools.
